As parents and as youth educators, we are confronted on a daily basis with the demands that students face in our community.  They are up early and off to school and on many days have sport or creative activities scheduled as well.  Getting homework done on time and correctly - without a struggle - can be a challenge, particularily in families where parents work outside the home.  Students are expected to do so much in such a short time.  Sometimes they need assistance, encouragement, the support of others to help them succeed outside of the classroom.  We are pleased to announce the lauch of the Activator Academy Homework Hub - An after school tutoring/mentoring program - in partnership with CROYA - offered to all 7th-12th graders in Knollwood/Lake Bluff and Lake Forest! The best news is - THIS PROGRAM IS EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE :)

Here at Activator  Academy we have an amazing group of young adults that enjoy working with young people - helping them to bring out their best.  Many of our staff members are not only great musicians, but also accomplished college graduates and undergraduates that have mastered the art of learning.

Fall Programs for Activator Academy and CROYA MUSIC will be BIGGER and BETTER than EVER!

Beginning July 27th, Activator Academy will begin taking registrations for the Fall Semester of music lessons/programs. Private and Group Classes will be offered on a variety of instruments, including the newest additions - Violin, Cello, and String Ensemble!  Recording Studio and Performance options will ensure that young musicians get the chance to share what they have learned and collaborate with other artists. The CROYA MUSIC Program will be expanding opportunities for local bands/musicians to rehearse, record in the studio, and perform on the main stage through a variety of open mic jams, concerts, compilations, video shoots, etc.  Recording Studio Birthday Party Packages will be a sure hit for the fall as well.

The new Activator Music website enables real time connections between students, performing artists, parents, and community members that love music and support the various CROYA Music initiatives. Congrats to all of the students that attended Jam Camps this summer!  The CD's are all awesome and selected cuts will be featured on the website shortly.

Spring Semester Open House Make-Up Sessions -Fri.  5/22 and Sat. 5/23

Students of the Music School that have missed MORE than 1 class this semester are invited to join Nick and Shelia during Open House  hours this Friday and Saturday.  Fri - 1-4pm and Sat. 4-6pm. Work on selections, jam with others, rehearse for your upcoming performance. Email Shelia if you wish to drop by with approximate timeframe and day.

Activator Academy Closed - Monday May 25th

There will be NO CLASSES on 5/25/09 in observance of Memorial Day.

Last Day of Lessons for Spring Semester 

Friday, May 29th marks the last day of official lessons for spring semester students of Activator Academy.  The week of June 1st is the make-up week.  Students are eligible to make-up one missed lesson during that week by attending their regular day/time with their instructor.

Spring Semester Performance Dates Set

Students of the Music School will have 2 opportunities to perform on the CROYA MAIN STAGE.  All instructors with the exception of Kate Otto and Shelia Christofalos - will hold their performance on Tuesday, May 26th from 6:30-8:30.  Students of Kate and Shelia will perform on Sunday, May 31st from 4-6pm.  Friends and family are invited to attend.  Dress is casual and a drop-in format will be presented to allow families to attend around other activities.

Activator Academy Offering Summer Camps/Jams/Lessons/Classes

Activator Academy, the music school located in the CROYA Student Union, will present a host of summer music programs beginning the week of June 8th and continuing through August 7th. Music lessons for students in K-12 will be offered in all band instruments, drums, piano/keys, voice, guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, and electronica. Half day camps will allow young musicians to form bands and become immersed in a week long journey of creativity and expression. Campers will rehearse and compose songs, record a CD in the state of the art CROYA Recording Studio, and enjoy the thrill and challenge of a live performance on the CROYA Main Stage. The CROYA Music Program is unique in our community. Through outstanding facilities, a convenient location, affordable cost, and a wonderful staff of dedicated young adults and music professionals - the CROYA Music Program offers students a place to develop, nuture, and explore their talents both individually and in collaberation with others. While they are in the building, students in grades 7-12 can also take advantage of the many other CROYA programs that take place daily. Summer '09 will be the best summer in the 26+ year history of CROYA! Please join us!
